In this episode, one woman shows us how she landed a new job and a raise during COVID — over email!

Through weekly video essays, “Making It Work” showcases how *real* people have upgraded their personal or financial lives in some meaningful way. Making your life work for you doesn’t mean getting rich just for the sake of it. It means making the most of what you have to build a life you love, both in your present and in your future. And while managing money is a crucial life skill for everyone, there’s no one “right way” to go about it — you have to figure out what works best for *you,* full stop.

I sent this to my friend who asked me how to ask for a higher salary for her new job and she got her requested amount using this template! Thank you Keertana and the Financial Diet.

I literally spent 3 hours last week trying to write a negotiation mail. Why didn't you upload this sooner?!?

And if this doesn't work out, it can also be worth a shot to ask if there's a path to your desired salary.

what are you guys talking about? you should be negotiating salary AFTER you get the offer letter, not before. therefore, theres no way they can offer the job to someone else at that point

By the way, there's like no good videos on how to write a annual/mid year performance review for yourself or your employees. I was shocked to find this out when I was looking for one to send out to my company. It would be awesome for y'all to make one with tips! Thanks!!

The highest pro of email is that everything is in writing. The biggest con of email is when people dont respond to the latest email so you get two email convos. Most people are nervous so removing tone and having time to proofread and edit your message is a definite pro – idk why the video focuses on tone and then proceeds to write a template that comes off as less professional and confident 🤔

I hate how everything is expected to sound so "professional." Makes it all seem so fake and intimidating. Why can't these topics be more open and normal?

Some of these "making it work" articles-turned-videos are so out of touch, and I was expecting more of the same (like a "here's how I sent a letter to someone to get a job in a kind of rare situation that most other people won't experience and can't replicate" story) but this is actually really helpful – I will be saving this to reference for my next job search. Thank you!!
